Dear Colleagues,

We take great pleasure in inviting you to the XIII Iberian International Business Conference (IIBC), which will again bring together a dynamic group of international business (IB) researchers – especially those based in the Iberian Peninsula.

The conference will take place on 20–21 October 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal, and it will be hosted by ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa. Participants will enjoy opportunities to present their latest research findings, brainstorm new research ideas and network in the welcoming atmosphere of Lisbon.

This is an exciting time for the field of IB, and academics can play an important role in studying the trends and praxis of, and policies towards, different types of operations in international contexts. Technology, transport and coordination costs – together with international political developments – are influencing the agenda of corporations, both mature and new, as well as governments and international institutions. Therefore, the main theme of IIBC 2017 will be ‘International Business and the Rise of Protectionism: Opportunities and Challenges for Iberian Firms’. IICB 2017 will offer a particularly privileged forum to discuss this theme, building on the latest research on this cutting-edge field.

We also welcome papers on traditional IIBC topics. While most papers will, as a general rule, focus on cases set in Portugal and Spain, other cases and/or countries are welcome. We expect that IICB 2017 will offer opportunities to strengthen cooperation among Iberian IB researchers and build an increasingly active IB research community.
